Urodynamics

Urodynamic studies are performed to test how well the sphincters, bladder, and urethra hold and release urine. These tests report how well the bladder is working and the reason for leaks or blockages, or urine. The tests also assess any presence of involuntary contractions in the bladder. Urodynamics helps find the cause or problems associated with improper bladder emptying, urine leaks, frequent urination, weak urine flow, intermittent urine flow, and recurrent urinary tract infections. The healthcare provider will inform the patient of some instructions depending on the recommended test. However, most o the tests do not require any precautions or restrictions.
