A third of all acute admissions in the hospital are due to respiratory problems. The Respiratory Care Unit at UMMC is well-known for diagnosing and treating a wide range of respiratory diseases and disorders. We offer comprehensive management and care for all acute and chronic ailments of respiratory and pulmonary systems. We deal with a range of problems which include tuberculosis, chronic cough, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary vascular disorders, and sleep disorders associated with breathing. 

The respiratory physicians run lung function laboratories in the hospital to enable the interpretation of complex lung function testing. The lung function tests are essential for respiratory medicine and indicate how well the patient’s lungs are functioning and help in the diagnosis of the lung condition.
