Dialysis
The Dialysis Centre at UMMC provides two types of dialytic therapies to patients with end-stage renal disease. The two types of dialysis include haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis. Haemodialysis involves an artificial kidney machine that filters and removes waste products and fluids from the blood. The peritoneal dialysis procedure uses a fluid that is placed in the abdominal cavity of the patient to remove waste and fluids from the body.
The dialysis unit consists of a team of professionals that includes nephrologists, certified technicians, dieticians, and nurses. The unit's goal is to maintain and improve the health and quality of life for patients with renal diseases. The team continuously monitors patient satisfaction and enhances the quality of patient care to meet our high standards of operation.
The haemodialysis facility offers both hemodiafiltration and hemoperfusion. We are also facilitated with plasmapheresis for patients with renal diseases like vasculitis and thrombotic microangiopathy. The peritoneal dialysis services include continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis, continuous cyclic peritoneal dialysis, and cycler assisted intermittent peritoneal dialysis.
The dialysis specialists in our hospital also provide comprehensive care to patients that include educational programs for dialysis patients, pre-emptive kidney transplantation evaluation, renal transplant care, hemoperfusion for poisonings, and care of resistant hypertension.
